The International Museum of Contemporary Art MIAC is located in the Castillo de San José, former military fortress located in Arrecife. It was constituted in 1975 to promote, gather and exhibit the most significant works of modern artistic creation. The artist from Cesar Manrique personally directed the remodeling and refurbishment of the Castle.
In the MIAC, works of artistic production created between the 50s and 70s are mainly exhibited. The works that stand out are by the authors: Tàpies, Michavila, Amadeo Gabino, Sempere, Mompó, Millares, Canogar, Rivera and Juana Francés, Mignoni, Gastón Orellana , among many others. And it is worth highlighting the works of the canary islands artists César Manrique, Manolo Milares, Pancho Lasso, Óscar Domínguez and Cristino de Vera.
