Things to Do this Weekend. Not just Carnivals in Lanzarote

This weekend is "officially Carnival", but if you are someone who wants to do more than dress up, participate in competitions or watch parades, in Lanzarote we have more options. This weekend there are several Things To Do in Lanzarote beyond Carnival. From concerts and art exhibitions, to sports for everyone.

Exhibition: “Paisaje de celuloide. Cine rodado en Lanzarote”

Cartel Paisaje de Celuloide. Cine rodado en Lanzarote The new exhibition in the Casa Amarilla is called “Paisaje de Celuloide. Cine rodado in Lanzarote” (Landscape film. Film shot in Lanzarote) , and it focuses on film. From 1965 to the present, Lanzarote have been a film stage, with more than 49 feature films shot on the island. This cinematic legacy full of stories and documents shows in The Yellow House. The exhibition will remain until the end of July and can be accessed at opening hours of the Casa Amarilla: Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 20:00 and Saturday from 10:00 to 14:00. The ticket price is 1 € and 2 € for residents to non-residents.

 Exhibition: “AMIG@, ¿Quién eres?“ Romana G. Brunnauer

Exposición Romana Brunnauer Haría 6 de febrero al 5 de marzo 2016 With the question “Friend, Who are you?” (AMIG@, ¿Quién eres?”), the artist Romana Gabriele Brunnauer demonstrates a parallel between the first part of the allegory of Plato's cave and the digital reality of social networks. The show will inaugurate this Saturday in the Exhibition Hall "El Aljibe" in Haria at noon.  Romana wants to express the essence that remains hidden in the informal exchange of social networks. This exhibition is the third part of the artist’s project; the first two were presented at the gallery ARTENMALA, also in Lanzarote. The exhibition will be in the room until March 5, with the participation of guest artist Daniel Txurun. The paintings can be seen in the room  from 10:00 am to 14:00 pm.

Famara Beach Cleaning

Limpieza de Famara 6 de febrero 2016 The Famara Limpia  Association and the COUP Association, invite you to this activitie to keep our beaches clean. As every first Saturday of the month, this February 5 there will be a cleaning at Famara Beach, from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Meeting point is old rescuer SOS booth, near the bungalows. The idea is to make the clean beaches act as routine as cleaning your house.

Music: LA PETITE BANDE. 32º Festival de Música de Canarias

LA PETITE BANDE. 32 Festival de Música de Canarias The breathtaking stage of Jameos del Agua will receive this Saturday February 6th "La Petite Bande" orcestra as part of the 32nd Canary Islands Music Festival. Under the direction of Sigiswald Kuijken, La Petite Bande will present at 9:00 pm, a 90-minute program including W. A. MOZART Cassation in B flat major, KV 99, W. A. MOZART Eine kleine Nachtmusik in G major, KV525, W. A. MOZART Divertimento in D major, KV205 and W. A. MOZART Cassation in G major, KV63.  

IV Timanfaya Triathlon

IV Timanfaya Triathlon Saturday February 6 marks the IV TIMANFAYA TRIATHLON in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote. The route is 750 meters swim, 20 km bike and 5 km run. At 9:30 am will be the race for children, while the TriMakina will be at 2:15 pm. Cartel-VII-Vuelta-a-Playa-Blanca-en-Handbike The same day, the  7ma Vuelta a Playa Blanca Handbike 2016 is held at 5:15pm. The seventh edition of this bike race, organized by the city of Yaiza and Trimakina, appears once again as a pioneer event on the island regarding the adapted sport. The awards will be after the end of the Vuelta Playa Blanca Handbike at 18:00.  

Lucha Canaria, senior teams from Lanzarote and La Palma

Lucha Canaria, selección senior de Lanzarote y La Palma As part of the program of the Fiestas de La Candelaria y San Blas, on Saturday at 9:00 pm there will be a Lucha Canaria Senior tournament, Lanzarote vs La Palma, in the Terrero Municipal “Ulpiano Rodríguez Pérez”.
