20 Things to Do This Weekend in Lanzarote

This weekend there are many events in Lanzarote, that's why we leave you with a selection so you can find something you like. There are activities for children, sports, music, theatre, popular parties, a little of everything. 1. Haría Extreme 2016

"Haría Extreme 2016" will be this Saturday november 19. This mountain race has become one of the most outstanding trails on the national and international scene.
In the sixth edition of the race, there will be 1200 runners from 25 nationalities who will take off in one of four modes: Ultra (102 Kms), Marathon (40.6 Kms), Medium (23.2 Kms), Starter (9.7 Kms).

The competition will also feature the runner fair, the "Feria Extreme".


And this Friday there's the race for children, the "Kids Extreme" - Haría Xtreme Lanzarote 2016. 

 

2. Érase una vez (Once upon a time). Storytelling workshops and reading animation

"Erase una vez" (Once upon a time) is a celebration of a series of Storytelling workshops and reading animation for kids between 6 and 10 years old. These completely free workshops take place every Friday at Tías Library from 5:00 pm o 6:00 pm, and at Puerto del Carmen Library from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

3. Plan  for the Revitalization of Local Commerce "La Marina" 

On Friday, November 11, the program of the Local Commerce "La Marina" continues with: Theater. play "La Isla Quemada", at 5:30 pm. Charanga and Zumba Master class. 

4. XVIII Jornadas de la Infancia y la Familia en Playa Blanca

Celebrating the International Day of the Rights of the Child, Yaiza City Council invites this weekend to the XVIII Childhood and Family Days in Playa Blanca. The activities will be held in the Plaza de Nuestra Senora del Carmen in Playa Blanca.

On Friday, November 18, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. the program will feature giant Games, animation, playroom, balloon workshops and face painting.

While on Saturday, November 19, the schedule will be from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm with: Inflatables, slide, Minnie and Mickey, pixar and Minnie and Mickey castle, water bombs machines and confetti, as well as Disney characters. At 11:30 am there will be the awards ceremony and at 12:00 pm the Gymnastics Exhibition by the Lanzarote Gymnastics Club.

5. Great Christmas Lights at Deiland Shopping Center 2016

Christmas arrives to Deiland Shopping Center with the traditional light up of the Christmas decoration, this Friday at 6:30 p.m.

6. "Universal Children's Day. Playground and workshop"

On Sunday, November 20th, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, the Deiland Shopping Center presents the Children's activities of the "Universal Children's Day" with Playgrounds and workshops.

 

7. Family Theater "Te pillé Caperucita" (I caught you Little Red Riding Hood) San Bartolome Children's Day.

On Sunday, November 20, San Bartolome celebrates Children's Day with the Family theater activity: "Te pillé Caperucita" (I caught you Little Red Riding Hood), by Guatifay Teatro Escuela de Artes Escénicas (G.T.E.A.E.), at 12:00 pm at Teatro de San Bartolomé. The entrance is free but the capacity is limited (395 people).

8. Silver Heads. Arrecife

"Silver Heads" takes the Rhithm and blues and Soul to La Recova in Arrecife. The concert is free and it will be this Friday November 18 at 9:00 pm; after rescheduling from the original date of November 5.

9. Noches de Jameos. Toñín Corujo Quartet with Tomaz Demicelj

The Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and Toñín Corujo Quartet present the Slovenian singer Tomaz Demicelj in the "Noches de Jameos" on Saturday, November 19th. Also known for being a representative and collaborator of the Swedish group ABBA, Domicelj will share the stage with the band that leads the Timpani player in a relaxed concert in which, in addition, will pay a simple tribute to the recently deceased Leonard Cohen interpreting some of his themes . It will be in one of the most impacting natural spaces of the planet, Jameos del Agua, at 10.30 pm.

10. IV Festival Calicanto “Voces Solidarias”

The IV Calicanto Festival is held at the Convent of Santo Domingo, in Teguise on Friday, November 18 at 9:00 p.m. The solidarity event will feature performances by Unai García (Gran Canaria), the Teguise Band and A.M.C. Calicanto (Teguise).

Tickets are 3 euros and the proceeds will go to A.F.A. (Association of Relatives of Alzheimer's patients).

11. Fiestas en Honor a San Francisco Javier Yé 2016

The Fiestas en Honor a San Francisco Javier 2016 are celebrated in Yé until Sunday November 27. Here's the program for this weekend:

Friday, November 18
6:00 pm. Draw and beginning of the Championship of Chinchón Feminine.
9:30 pm. TV Show Cambiame.

Saturday, November 19
10:30 am. Scrapbooking "My recipes" Workshop with Ceti de León.
5:00 pm. Contest of pastries, canapes and "pellas de gofio".
7:30 pm. Laughter Therapy Workshop with Cocktail and Canapes.
9:00 pm. Night of Humor with Germán Barrios and Antonio Orellana
9:00 pm. Dance with Sintonia Show.

Sunday 20 November
12:00 pm. XVIII Pilgrimage in Honor to San Francisco Javier and burning of the Coronero. Next "Baile del Romero" followed by Parranda Raíces and Pepe Benavente.
Children Romero and Romera will be chosen.
6:00 pm. End of collection of photos of the Tablado Flamenco.

 

12. Fiestas de Santa Catalina (Los Valles) 2016

The Fiestas de Santa Catalina (Los Valles) 2016 started yesterday and they will continue until Sunday November 27th. Here's the program for this weekend:

Friday, November 18
5:00 pm. Activities for the children of the town.
7:00 pm. Championship of Cinquillo.
9:00 pm. Popular Barbecue.

Saturday, November 19
9:00 pm. Night of parrandas with the performance of: La 3era edad de Teguise, Parranda Los Mantequillas (Fuerteventura), Parranda Los Valles.

Sunday 20 November
11:00 am Great throw to the plate with lunch for the participants.
8:00 pm. Theater.
8:30 pm. Draw of the Envite Championship.

13. Concert "Soul, Funk & Other Drugs" by Nia Verona

Arrecife Gran Hotel & SPA in Lanzarote presents "Soul, Funk & Other Drugs" the show of Nia Verona and her band, that includes the songs of her new album "Stronger" (for sale in digital platforms) & covers of great successes (Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Adele, Stevie Wonder ...)
Admission is free.

14. "Mujeres: de la voz al Mundo". Casa Museo del Timple.

Next Saturday 19 November, at 9:00 pm, a new cultural event will take place at the Casa-Museo del Timple. It is the spectacle of Tenerife's timple player Beselch Rodríguez and the singer Herren Claudia Álamo "Mujeres: de la voz al Mundo" (Women: from the voice to the world). This proposal aims to highlight the demanding, supportive, sensitive, committed and fierce character of the women to whom she pays homage, who have acted as bearers of messages for humanity.

15. 30th Anniversary Gala for the animals. Sara Protectora.

Sara Protectora celebrates 30 years in the fight against animal abuse and welfare, so they invite you to celebrate at the Great Gala 30th Anniversary on Saturday, November 19, at the Monumento al Campesino at 7:30 pm. The entrance fee for this luxury dinner and shows is € 25.

16. Flamenco: "CAPRICHOS DEL TIEMPO" Isabel Bayon Flamenco Company

The flamenco dance company Isabel Bayón presents with "Caprichos del Tiempo" a show of an extraordinary quality in which elements of classic flamenco dance are mixed with styles that take from the present and the current dance. You can enjoy this show on Saturday, November 19 at 9:00 pm at El Salinero Theater.

17. VI Tias Mini Tapa Week

The Sixth Edition of the Tías Mini Tapa Week ends this Friday, November 18, with the musical performances of Emisora Clandestina and Los Embajadores, starting at 8:00 pm in the Plaza de la Iglesia San Antonio.

 

This week participating bars and restaurants offer a tapa and drink for €3. Once you have tried all the tapas, you can vote for your favorite onep and you'll have the chance to win different prizes.
Also, you get to choose the restaurant with the tastiest tapa.

18. XIV Beach Ultimate Tournament

This weekend Playa Grande of Puerto del Carmen will receive the fourteenth edition of the International Tournament of Beach Ultimate "Coman Fruta Canaria", better known as CFC, and which will involve 24 teams and more than 350 players coming from different Countries from all over Europe like Netherlands, Portugal, Switzerland, Italy, France, United Kingdom or Germany and, of course, several Spanish teams that are already preparing for the World Cups to be held next year in France.

From 9:00 hours on Friday 18 November, Playa Grande of Puerto del Carmen becomes the epicenter of European frisbee with this important sporting event that has been organized by the Lanzarote team Mubidisk, current champion of Spain in division Mixed beach.

 

 

19. Science Week: Planetary Geology

Within the program of Science Week: Planetary Geology, this Saturday, November 19, it will take place the "Geoloruta (geological route) in Caldera Blanca: from Lanzarote to Mars", with the doctor in Geological Sciences, expert in Meteorites, Planetary Geology and Astrobiology, Jesús Martínez Frías. Prior registration is required, limited spaces.

 

20. Veintinueve trece / Photography and Creativity

"Veintinueve trece / Fotografía y Creatividad" is the first meeting on photography and visual arts in Lanzarote, which is being held since Thursday November 17 and that will end this Saturday at CIC El Almacén.

During these days different professionals from the audiovisual world will share their knowledge and experiences with us through presentations, masterclass, screenings and talks.
