9 Things to Do This Weekend in Lanzarote: Electronic Music, Festivals and Sports

This weekend has many options to enjoy local festivities of Lanzarote, music festivals and sporting events. And as always, in HolaLanzarote.com we bring the best events for you to enjoy your weekend.

1.  Jameos Festival 2015 Motown Club

This electronic music festival was presented on June 12 with International Airport, July 17 with Ladys Play! And this Friday, Jameos Festival will have its third and final session with another tribute, in this case, Motown, a brand, rather than a label associated with the greats of soul, funk and disco. Motown Club will have the best dance floor in the world leade by John Morales, the famous Studio 54 in New York, Blue Light in the Basement, Madrid, Viktor Flores, also from Madrid, Mr. Paradise (Madrid / Lanzarote) VJ G Visual, Las Palmas and VJ Paul Fiuza (Madrid / Lanzarote). The Centers also offer the possibility of purchasing a travel voucher Arrecife-Jameos-Arrecife for 6 euros, leaving from the “Intercambiador de buses de Arrecife” 21:00 hours, and expected return for 4:30am.   Jameos-Festival-2015  

2. Youth Week Arrecife 2015  

Arrecife celebrates Youth Week which began on August 2 and runs until the 12th of this month. There will be different activities, all free for young people and those young people feel well. As RPGs and Card Magic Championship on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th at 10:00. Day and night live role play Friday at 21:00 pm in the "Casa de la Juventud". Skate and climbing Workshops also will be this Saturday hours from 10:00 hours to 19:00 hours at "Casa de la Juventud" (next to the Red Cross). There will be Outdoor Movies, Snacks and cocktails August 4-8 at 21:00 hours. On 9 August on the beach of El Reducto there will be beach tennis at 10:00 hours.

3. World Youth Day in Caleta de Famara

This Friday August 7th World Youth Day is celebrated in the Caleta de Famara. From 9:00 am to 11:00 am will be the next to Cleaning of the Coste, with the project “Ruta 7” (college group of Canary Islands). Between 11:00 and 15:00 there will be Dj plus bracelets and shirts workshops, gymkhanas, etc. From 15:00 hours there’s lunch and then free time. 11800605_411384765732099_7398660253333364607_n  

4.  Open Voley Playa

Sun, sand and a volley ball right next to the sea.  Like, to not enjoy it, right? From Friday 7 to Sunday 9 August, comes to Puerto del Carmen the “Open Voley Playa" (Beach Volleyball Open). This tournament is part of the Canary Volleyball Circuit, scoring for it and for the Spain Championship. It will be in two categories: Under 19 and Absolute (18+), both male and female. 5. Music & Mojitos Marina Lanzarote

Lanzarote Marina Mall presents the cycle "Music and Mojitos" with Dj Session from 20:30 hr and concerts at 22:30 hours. Dj Richard will welcome the sunset with a chill out session. At 22:30 there will be the Jimmy's concert versions Jopplin and more soul. There will also be mojitos for a special price of 4 €. Música y mojitos Marina HoLa

6.  Mozaga Extreme Race 

Fill yourself with mud and test your limits this Saturday in Mozaga Extreme Race 2015. This extreme test is a mountain race of 5.5 km passing through the Mozaga canyons and San Andrés. It has up to 10 obstacles to overcomes by participants, who will have finish in a maximum of 2 hours. The race starts at 10:00 hours in Mozaga and goal closes at 12:00 pm, one hour before the awards ceremony. The categories are in both male and female: Youth, Senior and Veterans. Have fun and overcome every obstacle and if you can’t, get out and move aside to cry about it, since at the end of the day what matters is to participate. These are the "official" recommendations. 7. Travesía a Nado Puerto del Carmen 

As part of the circuit Cup Open Water Swimming, Sunday August 9 will become be the Swimming Crossing Puerto del Carmen in the Fariones Sports Centre. The circuit will begin at 11:00 hours. There will be four categories Minis (50 meters), Fry (800 meters), Benjamin (400 meters) and Master / Junior and Child (1200 meters).   Travesia a nado Puerto del Carmen 9 de agosto  

8. Local Festivities

The Fiestas del Carmen come to a close this weekend in Puerto del Carmen. On Friday at noon there will be beach volleyball in Playa Grande, Dive Workshop dive (Children and adult) at 16:00 hours. Dancing for seniors at 18:00 and canary stew tasting at 20:00. The activities continue on Saturday with the Simultaneous Chess at Varadero Square at 11:00. At 18:00 hours will be the Liturgy of the Word and the maritime procession, escorted by the “Parranda Marinera Los Buches”. From 20:00 hours there will be the Rosary (Rosary for Life) and the Eucharist. fiestas-del-carmen-destacado-holala-700x205   At 23:00 hours will be the Popular Verbena with the Orchestra "Lanzarote Swing" and "The Conejeros". Sunday programming ends after the Swimming Crossing at Playa Grande. At 10:30 will be the contest for Fishing at Pier Playa Chica (for children), at 11:00 am Mass and at 12:00 hours  the “Verbena del Solajero” with the Trio "Pura Vida" at the Varadero Esplanade. At 13:00 will be the concert of "The Coquillos". Finally at 19:00 the religious function that will be follow by La Trova Concert in the Plaza del Varadero and the final at 23:30 with Fireworks Display.

Fiestas Nuestra Señora de Nazaret 2015

The Festivities of Nazareth will have this weekend the Championship of: football, table tennis and Parcheesi. Besides Popular Asadero and Tenderete Canario. Sunday activities offer a hike through Zonzamas Reservoir in charge of the Heritage Service of the Cabildo of Lanzarote Guide. The Celebrations of Nazareth continues until Saturday 22 August. Fiestas de La Peña Mozaga 2015

This weekend also culminate the festivities of La Peña Mozaga 2015. On Friday 7 will be the performance of the School of Folklore Mozaga-Nazareth. Saturday 8 there will be the Mozaga Extreme 2015 that will take place at 10:00. At 19 hours the Zumba Master Class, followed by Bingo gifts. The festivities end on Sunday August 9th with religious function and procession in honor of “Nuestra Señora la Virgen de la Peña” at noon. I Fiesta de la Vendimia Tinajo 2015

At 12 hours on Saturday 8 August is celebrated the "First Harvest Festival" (I Fiesta de la Vendimia) in the Plaza de San Roque, Tinajo. The land of wines will have an exhibition and show of utensils used in the grape harvest. Also a tasting of local Canaries dishes and wines. There will be acts by: El Geito, Pa'l Porrón, Los Gurfines and José Vicente accompanied on guitar by Adrian Niz, besides the group Atlantis Swing. There will be fun activities for the little ones that will get them a smile. All this along to the traditional grape stomping demonstration and the Godparents of the vendimia selection.

“My neighbor has a dog all day on the roof", "There is a dog tied up permanently in a field", "I have seen a dog really skinny, What Do I do? ". All these messages and calls continually come to “Sara Protectora de Animales” shelter. People who want to help and don’t know how. For this reason, Sara Protectora organized this first workshop in LanzaroteComplaints Against Animal Abuse course” (Curso de Denuncias contra el Maltrato Animal). It will be taught by three different organizations: Seprona (specialized body of the Guardia Civil Service protection of Nature), Local Police, Veterinary and Sara Protectora, which is organizing. Do you want to help in the fight against animal abuse and neglect? Then join this course where you will learn about the legal status of animal protection, when it is a fault and when is a crime. The reportable and where and how to make complaints cases. In addition to testing and data you need to help endangered animals. You can always ask questions by participating in the debate that will be on Friday at 19:00 hours in the “Casa de la Juventud” (House of Youth) in Arrecife, free of charge and is open to all.
